The Birth of Malin!

September 1, 2017

Last May I met Page randomly by asking for a second shooter to cover two weddings with me and Page was the second shooter that I chose! She seemed fun and easy to talk to and I was not wrong! She is seriously one of the funniest people I have met, but also being super sweet and kind! She was also SUPER pregnant! Well fast forward she had her baby Clarke a few weeks after those weddings and he was adorable! When Clarke was three months old I had the privilege of doing family pictures with them and getting to capture the happy craziness of having a two and a one year old together! A week after that family shoot Clarke passed away. Heart broken I got to watch how strong and courageous this beautiful family is and just how many people love them and their journey.

A few months late Page then found out she was pregnant again and didn't want to find out the gender of this beautiful rainbow baby! When she contacted me to do the birth, I cried and got ready for an ALL natural birth!! On Thursday morning I was driving to go to the magic house with my kiddos and to be only 10 mins away from the hospital knowing that Page and Brad were on their way with contractions being 6 days past her due date! As I was pulling off of the exit I got the text. WE ARE 7 CM! Holy poop! I got my kids in my sister in laws car who awesomely followed me in case this would happen and all but drove 100 miles and hour to the birthing center!

When I entered I knew it was going to be sooner rather than later. Page labored in the tub and had so much control over her body! It was time to move to where she wanted to give birth, she got out of the tub and didn't go much farther! She labored and pushed on the step of the tub with the mid wife catching Malin through the legs of Brad! It was crazy! And almost makes me want to do a natural birth...almost.

IT WAS A BOY! And just like that Malin Theodore Fincher was born at 9oz 2lbs! Honestly Page you are awesome!

I can't explain how amazing it is to witness a birth and I will still cry at every single one I capture, but this one will always have a special place in my heart and Page, Brad, Avery and Malin you are a beautiful family and I can't wait to watch you grow!
